National Vietnam War Veterans Day is celebrated on March 29 each year. It honors the brave military veterans who served in the Vietnam War, one of the most prolonged conflicts in US history.
The Vietnam War stretched from 1955 to 1975 and cost over three million people their lives. Unfortunately, many Vietnam vets weren’t welcomed with open arms upon returning to the United States. Many were ill-treated and disrespected by US citizens who blamed them for the atrocities of the Vietnam War. It took multiple years for people to accept that veterans weren’t at fault for the cruelties of Vietnam. National Vietnam War Veterans Day commemorates all the mistreated vets after the war and all the courageous US soldiers who gave their lives during the conflict.
