International Plastic Bag Free Day is celebrated every year on July 3 to encourage people to minimize the use of plastic bags. Created by Bag Free World, a global initiative aiming to do away with the use of single-use plastic bags, the holiday also raises awareness of the harm caused by these popular carrying devices. International Plastic Bag Free Day encourages people to refrain from using plastic bags and instead seek more eco-friendly alternatives.

Plastic bags do a lot of harm to nature, marine life, and animals. Did you know that eight million metric tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year? Around the world, we use one million plastic bags every minute. Since most people only use a plastic bag once and dispose of it, most plastic bags end up as waste. This has a profound impact on the environment.

How to Celebrate International Plastic Bag Free DayPromote environmental conservation by declining single-use plastic bags, or you can take your own bag to the retailers when you go shopping. If you’re a company, consider making promotional eco-friendly bags to give away to your customers or clients.
