Skyscraper Day is celebrated every year on September 3 to honor Louis H. Sullivan, the “father of skyscrapers.” On this day, we admire and appreciate the world’s tallest skyscrapers, including One World Trade Center in New York City, Lotte World Tower in Seoul, and Shanghai Tower in Shanghai. The first skyscraper was the Home Insurance Building in Chicago, built in 1885. Today, the world’s tallest building is Burj Khalifa in Dubai, at 2,722 feet tall.

Born in Boston on September 3, 1856, Sullivan was a famous American architect and the spiritual father of modern architecture. At the age of 16, he started his architectural journey at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He inspired so many young architects to follow their dreams and turn their visions into reality.
