Iced Tea Day is celebrated on June 10 every year, and commemorates one of America’s favorite drinks – Iced tea. Iced Tea recipes go back to the 1870’s, but it wasn’t until 1904 that it gained in popularity. Iced tea is particularly popular in the American south due to the heat in the summer. A nice tall glass truly marks in the spot on a Texas July summer day.

The 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair was a particularly hot one that year, and it was here that Tea plantation owner Richard Blechynden, who was present at the fair, took advantage of the situation by selling chilled tea drinks as a cold refreshment. Everyone loved the twist, and the drink soon exploded in popularity.
