International Day of Peace is celebrated on September 21 each year to allow people to devote time to strengthening the ideal of peace. The United Nations General Assembly initially set aside the third Tuesday of September to be the International Day of Peace, coinciding with the opening of 1981’s session of the General Assembly. However, 20 years later, the assembly moved the celebrations to September 21. Since then, organizations and individuals worldwide have held and participated in events centred on that year’s theme.

How to Celebrate International Day of Peace
