Put On Your Own Shoes Day is celebrated on December 6 every year. This holiday might seem perplexing — who needs to be reminded to put on their own shoes? Small children may need a reminder or need help learning to tie their shoelaces, but most grown folks traditionally put on their own shoes every day.

Speculation is that the unknown creator of this day of recognition was tired of people borrowing their shoes. They possibly created the day to remind people that not every pair of shoes left on the porch was fair game. Or perhaps a harried mother created it to encourage her children to put their own footwear on in the morning. We may never know for sure.

How to Celebrate Put Your Own Shoes On Day

The best way to support this important day is to put on your own shoes and encourage others to put their own shoes on. Remind those you love that they should be wearing their own shoes and ensure that everyone is wearing the right shoes on this memorable holiday. Snap a photo of your feet and upload it to your social media with the hashtag #PutYourOwnShoesOnDay.
